Boss

He is 3/4 Dutch Harness, 1/4 Percheron and stands 17 hands high. This big guy has endless athleticism and willingness. This guy is a ham; he is a people person! He has been lightly schooled over preliminary sized fences and has potential for upper level dressage as well. Boss also has many miles on hunter paces and paper chases. He is sporty and careful, but quiet and sane in the excitement.

In the ring, Boss is an eye catcher. He is fancy and a naturally elegant mover. Boss has three extremely smooth uphill gaits and picks up both leads. He will collect, extend, and ride on the buckle. You will not find a more careful horse over fences. He is adjustable and will wait for a deep spot or take the long spot if you ask. Boss is attentive to your cues and you can feel him under you every step of the way.

Off property, Boss is up for anything. We have taken him all over the area for hunter paces, paper chases, and horse shows. Ride him up front and ask him to move forward and take all of the big fences, or relax and ride in the back and he will happily comply. He is careful over solid fences, and mindful of rough terrain out in the woods. Boss has many trail miles and is a breeze to ride. He is quiet and safe enough for the children to climb on for a trail ride or for a hunter pace. Boss will cross water, logs, roots, rocks, roads, and more.

In the barn, Boss is simple and straightforward. He is friendly when handle and stands to be tacked and groomed. Boss has a mellow personality. He doesn’t mind if there’s any commotion going on around him. In the pasture, Boss is turned out with mares and other geldings. He doesn’t get buddy sour and never causes any trouble in the herd.

Under harness, Boss has tons of experience. In fact, this past summer, his job was pulling a produce wagon to town for the farmers market. Aside from carting around fruits and veggies, Boss will drive over bridges, through tunnels, and on busy roads. This guy is simple and straightforward.

Alex is an eye catching Gypsy Vanner gelding, standing at 15.2 hands weighing 1400lbs very stocky and thick. He has a big gait and an even bigger heart! His ground manners are impeccable. Cherokee is a very athletic and handy for his size, he is an idea mount for anyone from kids to seniors. Cherokee has done a little bit of everything and does it willingly and with softness – trail riding, arena work, roping, working cattle, riding English, plus he does tricks such as laying down and bowing. He will spin, side pass, roll back and stop on a dime. If you’d like to hitch him in a beautiful carriage for weddings, he is well broke (traffic safe) to drive. Cherokee has the body and quiet attitude to be a great racetrack pony horse as well.

If his looks alone do not stop you in your tracks with his striking paint color, his sweet, loving personality will melt your heart. He will try to please you in any way and is quick to learn any new thing that you throw at him. This gelding is as sweet and gentle as you could want and would be an excellent mount for both kids and less experienced adults. Be sure to watch the video all the way through to see our daughter mounting him alone, trotting and loping off in the correct lead.

Cherokee looks and rides much more like an extra stout quarter horse than a draft. He is well trained to walk, trot, jog, lope, and canter and is soft to your leg cues to side pass and leg yield with ease. He has been ridden all over the country and will go through any type of terrain and water or obstacle in your path. He has worked many hours on the ranch roping and working calves and will not tire quickly. We have ridden him on several trail rides in groups and will gladly go off alone without any issues. He will make anyone smile ear to ear with his smooth easy gaits and his rocking horse canter with great lift in his shoulder. Cherokee is not a spooky horse and will always ride the same no matter how often or how little you take him out for a ride. His impeccable ground manners allow you to groom, saddle, fly spray, wash, for the farrier and for the vet. He is a true all around great minded horse that is looking to be your new best friend!
